LAS VEGAS (May 13, 2025) – For the third year in a row, Credit One Bank celebrated a new batch of One For The Community Scholarship recipients. The scholarship supports Las Vegas-based students who plan on staying in Nevada to pursue higher education. In partnership with the Public Education Foundation (PEF), the One For The Community Scholarship debuted in 2023 with 11 college-bound graduating high school seniors from low- to moderate-income Nevada families. That number increased to 15 students last year and this year’s program includes 21 students. Each received $2,500 to apply towards their first year of school, which can be renewed for up to three additional years, bringing the total scholarship amount to $10,000.
The selection process is a joint effort between Credit One Bank and the Public Education Foundation. Since 1995, the Public Education Foundation has supported local students pursuing their college and career dreams through the Scholarships Plus Program. The nonprofit partners with more than 400 organizations and individuals throughout Nevada to award more than 900 scholarships each year.
“The expansion of this scholarship means that more students will have the opportunity to pursue higher education, and during a time that many are struggling, we are proud to offer a helping hand to more students than ever before,” said Mamta Kapoor, Community Reinvestment Officer with Credit One Bank. “Each year I’ve been impressed with the quality of the students applying for the award, and struck by the educational excellence, hard work and discipline of the winners. They truly are the future of our state and it’s my pleasure to be able to help them along their educational journey.”
The students were recognized at a reception on Tuesday, May 13 at Credit One Bank’s Las Vegas headquarters. More about each of the scholarship recipients can be found below:
“For the third straight year, the One For The Community Scholarship program has identified some of the best and the brightest from Clark County,” said Kirsten Searer, President of the Public Education Foundation. “We are grateful to have partners like Credit One Bank who are committed to giving back to the community they call home by supporting the students who will be our future coworkers, neighbors, and friends. The 21 incredibly driven and deserving young people selected to receive the scholarship will receive a helping hand as they pursue the next steps of their education. Each of these students has shown their desire to come back to Southern Nevada and make a positive impact in the future, and we are thrilled to partner with Credit One Bank to support them in that goal.”
