LAS VEGAS (April 9, 2026) – The Credit One Charleston Open went out with a bang on Sunday, April 5, marking the first time a standalone WTA 500 tournament voluntarily increased the purse to match the prize money in comparable ATP 500 men’s tournaments. The tournament’s title sponsor, Credit One Bank, announced that the total player compensation for this year’s Charleston Open is $2.5 million — doubling the 2025 amount and exceeding WTA minimum requirements by more than $1 million.
The championship match saw Jessica Pegula defeat Yuliia Starodubtseva, capping off a week of world-class competition on Charleston’s signature green clay at Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island. As the largest women’s only tennis tournament in North America, the Credit One Charleston Open was the perfect venue to solidify forward momentum and a commitment to women’s sports. The new equal pay milestone fueled the celebration with an even greater positive outlook for female athletes.
Held March 28 through April 5, The Credit One Charleston Open welcomed top-ranked players and thousands of fans to Charleston for one of the premier events on the Hologic WTA Tour. Fans enjoyed a variety of activations throughout the week, including complimentary general admission for juniors 16 and under with the purchase of an adult ticket, courtesy of Credit One Bank, as well as Credit One Bank Autograph Sessions from March 28 to April 3 where guests could meet WTA stars. The Credit One Charleston Open Fan Hub and Credit One Stadium app served as go-to resources for schedules, updates and on-site happenings.
As title sponsor, Credit One Bank played a key role in the tournament’s continued success, supporting its growth and helping elevate the visibility of women’s professional tennis. The event also reinforced its reputation as an innovator on the Women’s Tennis Association Tour as the first clay-court tournament to implement Electronic Line Calling Live technology.
Credit One Bank has extended its title sponsorship of the Credit One Charleston Open through 2031. This year is just the beginning of the commitment to equal prize money, establishing a new normal in the continued advancement of gender equality in professional sports.
